Dear WEmpowered Community, happy summer! ☀️
WEmpowered CIC started the summer off with a blast, at the Leys Festival 2026, a beautiful celebration of the talents, friendship and diversity of our local community! Hortenzia and Marta manned the stall, running a vegetable hunt and seed planting for families, and connecting with local leaders, organisations and residents. Danii and Emily meanwhile facilitated a community art project, creating a bold and vibrant ‘One People, One Place’ mosaic made of multicoloured lasagne sheet pieces.
Over the school holidays, we’ll continue to get together for connection, wellbeing and growth!
Introducing a special summer activity: Mindful Mondays! 🌱
Marta warmly invites mommas/ladies to Wild Flowers Allotment, Sorrel Road every Monday over the summer, for a mindful, nature-based early evening wind-down: “This is a time to intentionally walk together, talk about our day and then do some light stretches led by our wonderful volunteer instructor Rose whose energy and positivity is infectious! We will meet at 6.30pm (with a 10 min grace arrival period as gate access will be limited after that). Fruit and healthy snacks will be provided at the end with a chance to sit, chat, relax! We look forward to welcoming you!”
Mindful Mondays are an opportunity to enjoy ‘the art of wandering’… “When every moment of your time is accounted for, your brain stops making space for creativity or even basic problem-solving… Look out the window, let your mind drift to a memory. This is wandering. The challenging part is not succumbing to the guilt – the voice that says you should be answering emails, cleaning, or doing something useful. The goal is to feel like a human instead of a machine.” (Karen Hartley, cited in Psychologies Magazine, Summer 2026). 🌸
At Wild Flowers Allotment, you might also spot a large number of courgettes! Summer photos below, including creative courgette dishes made by WE women, for fresh cooking inspiration! 🥰
Keep an eye out on the blog for more summer wellbeing posts 🙂
