Hello friends of WEmpowered CIC!

Summer is almost here, and we enjoyed the weather to the max on Saturday, doubly celebrating Big Green Week and the One Year Anniversary of the WEmpowered CIC Wildflowers Allotment!

Thank you to all the volunteers, supporters, friends old and new who joined the festivities, and those who help in other ways whether they can join events in person, or support WEmpowered CIC through encouragement and friendship. (Shout-out to our much appreciated blog subscribers!)

A few highlights! Volunteers Jamie and Vikram from HSBC Bank welcomed us; Rose led an upbeat fitness sampler session by the allotment gate; a colourful photo montage board displayed the progress made in the allotment from 2025-26; Urshla painted children’s faces with delicate flowers and rainbows; Dani and Emily facilitated summer-inspired crafts; Lubna painted henna on children’s hands; we had a taste of Romanian goulash (Andreea, Agnes food). Other delicious food served by Arjetta, Hortensia and Cristina included chickpea stew, rice, salad and handmade scones thoughtfully contributed by a young member of the community. The joyful atmosphere even led to a spontaneous singing performance of Dance Monkey by the children!

A special mention to Marta who coordinated, connected and DJ’d! In the WEmpowered CIC Facebook group Marta says, “Seeing everyone come together created such a vibrant atmosphere that truly reflected the very best of community spirit, unity and diversity …Looking around at all the smiling faces, it was impossible not to feel proud of what we have built together over this past year. Together, we are sowing seeds of hope, kindness and belonging.”
